Introduction

Datalink maintains its software to meet compatibility with modern standards and the latest versions of web browsers as they are released. Unfortunately this means we need to remove support for older browsers from time to time where they don't meet these newer standards.

Web Browser Support

Our browser support policy ensures that you can use our products on popular operating systems up to two major versions old.

For these supported operating systems, you can use either:

  • The latest patch level of the web browser included on a supported version of either Windows 7, 8.1 or 10, or Macintosh 10.10 or 10.11 operating system, or
  • The latest version of Google Chrome or Firefox installed with automatic updates enabled installed onto any operating system supported by the software.

Currently recommended browsers

At this time, recommended browsers include:

About Microsoft Internet Explorer

Microsoft itself no longer supports Internet Explorer versions less than 11 on its supported desktop operating systems, however you may have the misfortune of running older versions of Internet Explorer such as 8, 9, or 10. If you are still using one of these older unsupported browsers, then let your IT department know that Datalink cannot support your computer, the version of browser you are using is unsupported by Microsoft and probably insecure, and Microsoft offers tools for IT departments still running older browsers for compatibility reasons to migrate to newer, supported browsers.

Datalink's browser support is in line with Microsoft's own minimum browser support matrix for desktop operating systems (as at January 12, 2016):

  • Windows 7 SP1: Internet Explorer 11
  • Windows 8.1: Internet Explorer 11
  • Windows 10: Microsoft Edge

Even if you are using a supported and patched version of Internet Explorer, if you have a choice of which browser to use on your computer, then we currently recommend using Google Chrome.

Mobile Device Support Policy

Our devices support target includes the current OS, along with its two previous major versions. This policy covers Android, iOS and Windows.

For whichever major version used, it must remain patched to the latest vendor offering for that edition — e.g. if on Android 6, it must be patched to Android 6.0.1.

e.g. Android is now at version 7 so we support 7, 6 and 5. iOS is at version 10, so we support 10, 9 and 8. Windows is at 10, so we support 10, 8.1 and 7.

As a special note for Windows users, our native app support only supports Windows 10, because Windows Surface Pro had only matured as at that OS version. Our web-based support is complete back to Windows 7 and can be used on older Windows tablets.

Extended Support Options for Enterprise Customers

Datalink may also offer extended support from time to time.

This may be additionally charged based on the effort involved in maintaining that support.

Using an unsupported browser or device

If your browser is not listed but provides modern standards compliance, then it has a good chance of working, because all Datalink software is built using open standards. If you have an older browser (including Internet Explorer less than version 11) and want to try and see what happens, then you can log in anyway.

When using an unsupported browser, please understand and accept the risks of the system not working as expected, and the lack of support if anything goes wrong.
